UNDOING RUIN
PUBLICATIONS
Undoing Ruin is a comprehensive publication project set in a richly detailed dystopian sci-fi world, designed to immerse tabletop RPG players in a grim yet visually captivating universe. As the lead designer, the focus was on crafting a seamless and engaging layout that balanced aesthetics and functionality for digital and print formats. The overall look embraced a futuristic yet decayed design language, featuring distressed textures, bold typographic choices, and an intuitive structure to ensure easy navigation.
Beyond the core book, the project expanded to include additional print materials and a digital starter guide, offering new players an accessible entry point. To further enhance engagement, a dedicated website is in the works; to provide in-depth lore, gameplay mechanics, and exclusive content, broadening its reach to sci-fi enthusiasts and tabletop gamers alike. This multi-platform approach ensured that Undoing Ruin was not just a rulebook but a fully immersive experience.

Prototype pages for client review before laying out master pages for drafting the guidebook's layouts.
This mockup showcases several prototype layouts designed for the guidebook Undoing Ruin. As the designer, I collaborated closely with the client to select appropriate typography that reflects the tone and purpose of the content, while ensuring readability across various sections. Together, we explored and finalized table layouts and page structures tailored to the book’s thematic divisions, maintaining consistency and visual clarity. Special attention was given to the integration of images alongside large bodies of text, using thoughtful placement and scale to create visual rhythm, enhance narrative flow, and support the reader’s engagement throughout the guidebook.
CHALLENGES
Finding the right typography that aligned with the client’s vision—blending a dystopian sci-fi feel with cyberpunk elements—while remaining highly readable.
Layout required careful adjustments to ensure the physical print version maintained its visual impact and readability while adapting the digital copy for seamless on-screen navigation.
Designing the tables involved striking a balance between visual interest and functionality, ensuring they presented essential information clearly without feeling cluttered or overwhelming.
