NERD-MART
UI/UX DESIGN:
Nerd-Mart is a gamer-focused e-commerce app designed to make gaming equipment and games more accessible, relatable, and affordable for players from all backgrounds and experience levels. The project explores how thoughtful UX research and interface design can reduce friction in online shopping while maintaining a modern, visually engaging aesthetic.
As the designer, I conducted user research and behavioral analysis to better understand how gamers browse, compare, and purchase products online. These insights informed a design system focused on clarity, speed, and discoverability, aligning with current digital commerce trends.
The interface emphasizes intuitive navigation, clear product hierarchy, and interactive feedback, creating a seamless shopping flow that allows users to find, evaluate, and purchase products with minimal effort and cognitive load.

DELIVERABLES
Creating a fictional gamer e-commerce app, establishing its branding identity and interface design while conducting thorough research and developing case studies to ensure the app provided reliable and affordable equipment for a diverse range of customers.
A sleek, gamer-focused e-commerce app designed for accessibility, affordability, and ease.
Rough sketches of low fidelity wireframing.
Wireframing & Flow Exploration:
The early sketching phase drew from editorial design principles—similar to laying out a magazine spread or book—where composition, flow, and visual hierarchy guide the user’s experience. Initial sketches explored layout concepts for key screens, including home, search, product, and checkout.
A second round introduced a more structured and comprehensive user flow, expanding to include welcome, login, search, product reviews, cart, and order status screens. This progression allowed for clearer mapping of end-to-end user journeys.
These low-fidelity wireframes enabled rapid iteration, helping define user paths, validate ideas early, and refine information architecture before transitioning into high-fidelity digital wireframes.
Side by side layouts for low and mid fidelity wireframing.
Early Exploration & Wireframing:
As a designer transitioning into UI/UX, I began Nerd-Mart with hand-drawn sketches as an initial exploration of structure, flow, and interaction for a gamer-focused e-commerce app. Informed by my background in graphic design, marketing, and editorial layout, the sketching process felt intuitive—prioritizing composition, visual hierarchy, and narrative flow.
The first set of sketches explored foundational layouts for home, search, product, and checkout screens. A second iteration introduced a more defined end-to-end user flow, expanding to include welcome, login, search, product reviews, cart, and order status pages. These low-fidelity wireframes allowed for rapid ideation and iteration, helping define user paths, validate assumptions early, and refine information architecture before transitioning into digital wireframes.
Visual System & Style Guide:
To bring the Nerd-Mart experience to life, I developed a style guide designed to resonate with a modern gaming audience while maintaining clarity and usability. The brand system uses a friendly, modern typographic pairing—Gotham and Rubik—to balance approachability, legibility, and visual consistency across screens.
The color palette keeps the interface energetic yet controlled, using cyan and lime green as accent colors, with cyan blue serving as the primary action color for favoriting products, highlighting active states, and reinforcing interactive elements. Black and white are used strategically to offset brighter tones, creating contrast, visual balance, and intuitive navigation.
Iconography follows a familiar, universal visual language, borrowing recognizable patterns from established e-commerce platforms to reduce friction and create a sense of comfort and recognition as users browse, shop, and interact throughout the app.
CHALLENGES:
Defining a brand identity that resonated with a diverse gaming audience while aligning with the app’s visual style, tone, and personality.
Researching and analyzing relevant e-commerce and gaming platforms to identify features and patterns that would best support product discovery, comparison, and purchasing.
Balancing visual appeal and usability, ensuring the interface remained intuitive, efficient, and friction-free throughout the shopping experience.
GOALS & METRICS:
Design a cohesive app and website experience that worked seamlessly together, enabling users to browse, evaluate, and purchase affordable gaming gear with ease.
Establish a scalable design foundation that supports future feature additions, branding updates, and visual refinements as the product evolves.
Introduce features that improve accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring the app accommodates a wide range of users, needs, and shopping behaviors.
